The artist residency serves as a catalyst for the Storytellers— an opportunity to immerse themselves in community, creative practice, and the transformative power of storytelling— led by Dohee Lee, ARU's Art Director.
Throughout the residency, Storytellers are guided on a path of self-expression, reflection, and empowerment. By exploring personal journeys and lived experiences, participants break the silence and confront memories of pain, shame, fear, and displacement, while also reflecting on joy, resilience, strength, healing, and hope through collective creativity. This process becomes a pathway toward healing— deepening relationships with the land, with ourselves, with those who came before us, and with future generations. We believe community engagement is not separate from creation; it is the creation process itself.
