एकता / Ekata – Unity
The Bhutanese community in the U.S., and in the Greater Harrisburg area specifically, is quite diverse in terms of ethnicity, religious affiliation, and other sociodemographic backgrounds. The need to unite this rich and diverse community remains high, especially given the current harsh socio-political environment. Through the Dinner Series, Asian Refugees United (ARU) aims to celebrate this diversity among Bhutanese communities in the Greater Harrisburg area and foster collective, meaningful discussions around topics that affect the community. Across the six dinners in the series, community members and representatives of various sub-groups will have a space to build connections and grow comfortable navigating difficult conversations. Over time, we hope to move toward deeper topics— unity, healing, and a shared vision for the community as a whole— while developing allyship that can help bridge connections across the broader community.
